Is Jesus Christ God or the Son of God?

Who is Jesus Christ? Is he God or the Son of God? Many people do not know the identity of or who Jesus Christ is and so they are confused. This article is going to enlighten you on this important topic.

The indisputable or unambiguous Bible portion that say Jesus Christ is God

There are several Bible portions that distinctly say Jesus Christ is God but, unfortunately, most of them are subject to controversy and differing translations and interpretations. However, there’s at least one that is immune from all those challenges and it is this one: John 1:1-14 Read it.

The unquestionable or irrefutable Bible portions that say Jesus Christ is the son of God

There are many incontrovertible Bible verses which clearly state that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Nevertheless, I will quote only two due to time and space constraint. Read: John 3:16 and John 5:16-23

Actually, there’s only one God. So, if Jesus Christ is the son of God, why is he still called God also?

The Bible says that there’s only one God but why is Jesus Christ, the son of God, also referred to as God. Does this mean that there are two Gods? The answer is “No.”

God duplicated himself by asexual reproduction

Both the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ are God’s duplicates. Thus, God, though only one, exists in three versions, namely:

  1. God, the Father
  2. God, the Son
  3. God, the Holy Spirit

Reproduction analogy expounded: The difference between asexual and sexual reproduction

There are two types of reproduction which are: asexual and sexual reproductions but the one that involves God is asexual.

The main difference between asexual and sexual reproduction is that asexual reproduction generates offspring that are genetically identical to a single parent. In sexual reproduction, two parents have to contribute genetic information to reproduce unique offspring.

In this regard, with sexual reproduction, lions reproduce lions, tigers reproduce tigers and so on and so forth. While with asexual reproduction, bacteria, for example, reproduces bacteria by binary fission, an asexual process whereby a single cell divides into two.

Therefore, If a creature like, bacteria, is capable of asexual reproduction, what about God, the Creator of the entire universe? Isn’t he capable of a greater feat? So, it is not out of place to say that God reproduced himself so that each version or copy will perform his respective roles.

By the way, where does the Holy Spirit emanates from?

The Holy Spirit emerges from God himself. Read JOHN 15:26

Bible verses that state clearly that the Holy Spirit is God

The Holy Spirit is God. He possesses all the attributes of God. Even the Bible specifically says that he is God. Read ACTS 5:3-4 and 2 CORINTHIANS 3:17-18

Jesus Christ is called God because of the three reasons enumerated below:

  1. Jesus Christ has all the qualities that God possess and resembles God in every way. Read John 14:8-11, Hebrews 1:3 and Colossians 1:15
  2. God dwells in Jesus Christ. Read John 14:10, Colossians 1:19 and Colossians 2:9
  3. Logical reality of asexual and sexual reproduction

Finally, Jesus Christ, the son of God, is God in accordance with logical reality of asexual reproduction.

The main difference between asexual and sexual reproduction.

Asexual reproduction generates offspring that are genetically identical to a single parent. In sexual reproduction, two parents contribute genetic information to produce unique offspring.

In this regard, with sexual reproduction, lions reproduce a lion, tigers reproduce a tiger and so on and so forth. While with asexual reproduction, bacteria reproduces bacteria by binary fission, an asexual process whereby a single cell divides into two.

Therefore, If a creature like, bacteria, is capable of asexual reproduction, what about God, the Creator of the entire universe? Isn’t he capable of a greater feat? So, it is not out of place to say that God fathers or reproduces God.

Actually, there’s only one God. So, if Jesus Christ is God, why is he still called the son of God?

I have already explained above why Jesus Christ is still called God even as he is also the son of God. Now, I want to explain why Jesus Christ is still called the son of God even as he is God also.

Jesus Christ is called the son of God because God is actually his own Father. The fact that he is called God does not mean that God, his father, does not exist anymore as a separate entity or being. Both Jesus Christ, as God, and his father, as God have and retain their unique identities as God, the son and as God, the father.

(Reminder: If you have forgotten why Jesus Christ is also called God, in addition to God, his father, return to the upper part of this article to reread it)

There’s ample evidence that God the son, Jesus Christ, and God, his father, are two different personalities with unique identities of a son and a father. This was why, when Jesus Christ, God, the son, became flesh and was on earth, both he and God, the father, could speak to and about each other on several occasions. Read the following: Matthew 3:16-17, Luke 9:35-36, John 11:25-27 and John 12:27-30

I believe this this article has enabled to understand why Jesus Christ is God why he is also the son of God.
